If you have an older copier in your office, you may wonder if it may be time to finally replace it with a new one. If you are still on the fence about making the decision to replace the old copier, consider the following signs that it is time to take action.

1.  Making Copies Seems to Take Forever

One of the first signs that it's time to replace your copier is when it seems as though making copies takes forever. While the speed at which the machine makes one or two copies of a document may not be a big deal, you may find yourself irritated at the excessive time it takes to make multiple copies of multi-page documents.

However, if you replace the copier, most newer models are capable of handling the same workload in a fraction of the time your old copier is currently taking. This increase in speed can help increase efficiency in your office, requiring less time standing by while equipment while copies are being made.

2.  Trying to Find Replacement Parts Become Difficult

When your current copier was still new or even relevant to the technology of the day, you probably had no problems finding replacement parts. Parts such as toners could easily be found in most office supply stores.

However, as the technology of your copier becomes obsolete and newer ones take its place, you may be finding it more difficult to find what you need. Even after hours of searching the internet, you may have trouble getting the parts. Since newer models represent the current technology, finding the parts you need will be easier.

3.  Changing the Toner Does Not Help Copy Quality

Once you are able to finally find the toner your machine requires, you may notice that the quality of the copied documents still appears faded and difficult to read. Over time and frequent use, the copier is simply becoming worn out or the parts have become damaged.

While you could have the equipment repaired, you may be hardpressed in finding someone familiar enough with the model to fix it. And, if you do, the cost may be almost as high as buying one. It may be more cost-effective to simply purchase a newer model.

If any of the above signs sound familiar, it may be time to let go of your old copier in favor of a newer model. If you are having problems deciding on which model would best meet your needs, speak with a representative at a printing service that offers copier sales for personalized assistance.
